Representatives of the Church of Scientology were yesterday expelled from the University campus after trying to recruit students under cover of offering employment as proof- readers. Olav Eggebø is one of the students who was tempted by the promise of an hourly wage of 110 kroner. He is persuaded that the sect was trying to recruit new members. Little drug use Only seven per cent of the University’s students have used drugs more than once. Nevertheless, five per cent of students report health problems as a result of their drug consumption. Lethargy and concentration difficulties are the most common problems. Dr. Otto Steenfeldt-Foss of the University Health Services says that students often seek medical advice because of problems such as anxiety and insomnia, but do not relate these to their drug consumption. Fire hazard Several of the University’s belowground pubs are potential fire traps. Knut Norum of Norsk Brannvern Forening (The Norwegian Association for Fire Prevention) concludes that the emergency exits in the RF kjeller (The Realists’ Association’s Pub) are too narrow, and that some of them are being used as storage space. near the emergency exits could block the way if panic spreads or the light goes, Norum explains. | |||||||||
